About Ecco the Dolphin Online

Ecco the dolphin is quite a unique franchise that last saw an new game released over 25 years ago. Despite this, the game still has a dedicated fan base, keeping the memory alive with several fan communities appearing on the Internet and fading away into tides of time one after another.

On November 10th 2019 Johnny de Alba, a long time Ecco fan who was there when first ever website started to appear, made the decision to begin a new Ecco the Dolphin community, resulting in what you are seeing here: Ecco Online, a website focused on reverse engineering and preserving the vast legacy that the Ecco franchise has given its fans all around the world.

During its peak the community has enjoyed quite a few very successful projects: both fan driven such as Media Restoration and ROM patches, as well as Johnny's own developments such as the famous Ecco Text Generator and multitude of other tools on this website that people on the web ejoy to this day!

Even though Jonny has stepped down as the maintaner of Ecco Online and pursue other opportunities, his legacy lives on. There were some difficult times as we lost the original domain and the website literally had to be put back together from pieces, but in the end everything was restored.

Now, with there being a possibility of there being another Ecco game on the horizon, we feel it's more important than ever to carry on the tradition started a long time ago. It is the belief in Ecco that has kept the memories alive all these years and whether the new game will see the light of day, the community is going to be there.

And we are going to be there to help the fans carry it forward.
